Here we are comparing the old point to a new point since it looks like the customer may have installed a generic point. The length matches, and all is well.

This is wrong! Always make sure the point is screwed into the flat side of the pivot not the rounded side.

Caution!

Here you can see a big mistake. The user has screwed the contact point into the rounded side of the pivot. If we do this, we will no longer have an accurate indicator because the contact point will be too long.

Check that the contact point is tightly screwed into the flat side of the pivot. Although contact point wrenches are included with Interapid test indicators, we find that our small pliers work just as well.

Note: you do not need to disassemble the indicator to install a new point. Our photo is only designed to illustrate.
