The IP54 (Ingress Protection) rating guarantees that the instrument will still function correctly after being subjected to a cloud of dust in the form of talcum powder for a period of 8 hours. It will also function correctly after it has been sprayed with water from all directions for a period of 10 minutes. - stainless steel spindle and stem won't rust
