Using a right-angle contact point serves as an adapter on your dial indicator. It does not affect the readings as long as your spindle and contact point remain at right angles to the work piece. The photo illustrates proper positioning.
This German-made contact point includes the angle adapter, lock nut and contact point as shown above.
The horizontal contact point with M2.5 thread is supplied as shown in the photo. It is removable and exchangeable. A second threaded bore allows you to use any test indicator contact point with M1.6 threads, such as the Compac contact points shown on page 205. This gives you a choice of additional ball diameters from .015" to .120" as well as carbide and ruby options.
