Compika Dial Comparator Gauge This is the Kafer Compika comparator gauge sold in the USA under the Brown & Sharpe name. Similar in principle to the well known Millimess indicator made by Mahr-Federal, but at a fraction of the cost. 
Comparator gages are used to make comparison measurements. Set the gage to zero with your master, and then see the deviation from zero on your test piece. The .00005" comparator requires a rigid set-up and careful control to avoid measuring errors. A lifting cable is provided so that you don't have to touch the gage. These comparators have 8 mm diameter stems, but a 3/8" adapter is included. The indicator can only be held by the stem. There are no provisions for back mounting. Use it as a permanent component of your own fixture or with a high quality indicator stand shown on page 115. Repair service, if needed, is provided by Long Island Indicator Service.
