Rosa 'Royal Sunset'

No.580

June 20, 2003

ARS 9.2; 1960; large-flowered climber; deep apricot blend fading to light apricot, 5" across, 20-25 petals, clusters of 3-4 buds. Wonderful fruity fragrance. Leathery, glossy, and thick dark-green foliage rarely affected by disease. Extremely vigorous (12'-15' canes). The great abundance of blooms is both continuous and breathtaking.

1960 City of Portland Gold Medal; Hybridized by Dr. Dennison Morey (introduced by Jackson & Perkins) from 'Sungold' (extinct, medium-yellow, climbing hybrid tea) and 'Sutter's Gold' (an orange blend hybrid tea that was an AARS 1950 selection and 4 other awards)
